I live in the other side in MD but was in that area last weekend and was surprised at how cute the old town part of Leesburg is.

Ugh .

Even before contemplating what is in there, the bleakness of the outside is almost enough to induce despair and surrender. The "architecture", the landscaping, and all of the night lights* create an intersection of depressing dystopia.

There is a small area like that near me . Whenever I walk through it I (partly) regret going that way. It does make me walk faster though, just to get past it. :)

* Almost everything, including us, needs some darkness. That light pollution is damaging in many ways, including human mental and physical health.

Btw, a serious-humerous poke at all of that ^ , if you (I) need it ;)
