It's funny. Most normies I know didn't even know who tf he was, and at least half of them still don't give af who he was (they just want their team to make the playoffs, to make rent and have their kids make it home from school). I had to explain to my partner who he was when South Park modeled influencer Cartman after him. For all these people, this was another day in America in 2025 with a couple of school shootings, defo not a 9.11. Their spectacle seems to be running in a different environment from political influencers and their followers.

“Ideological entrepreneurs” is a term I heard Julian Feeld use on an episode of Trashfuture podcast, and I think it fits. You’re completely right, we must log off for our own sakes. I saw the resurfaced family photo of the alleged Kirk assassin as a child with his first laptop and I shuddered.

Influencer wars are akin to live franchised sports.

Autogenerative, eternal and risk free (by and large) aggressions to commune within.

The successful players are handsomely rewarded, those that aren't are easily discarded.

The producers never have to innovate, as in other areas of entertainment, just keep the show on the road.

For the fans it's easy to pick a side and decant their virtues (loyalty, insights etc) into.

A lot of people are happy to pay for these things.

You're really insightful here. After watching this, I realize it does seem that the truly panicked response comes from those organizers of opinion who are clearly pushing their masters' agenda at the expense of the public… the commenterati DID think they could insulate themselves from the negative externalities of 24/7 production at the psychosis plant. The influencers who are able to be somewhat objective tend to be in it for different reasons—or believe that they are, at least. It seems so foolish that they'd think that fawning would protect them, they are always the first to get the rug pulled out—maybe they'll wise up & do something else. Anyways, respect!
