I had a long relationship with the son of one of these Soviet Union mathematics PhD guys. They’re both very impressive men. It’s a bit freaky how similar the descriptions are. Big music guys, camping… really the whole bit. Even the gay part. The son is bisexual. He didn’t ever appear to hide it. Not sure if he tried to hide it when he was younger and quit. The son radiates though, unlike Lex. Like, he has power levels I could never really understand. Perhaps Lex should come out.

I just want for the sycophants of the oligarchs to at least be entertaining. At least Lex doesn’t say he’s a comedian. Half of these freaks say they are comedians, and I’ve never even so much as chuckled at something they’ve said. Evil closeted gay guys use to be so powerful and scary. Lex believes in all the evil shit but he just comes across as a dull, wet noodle. What happened to this country.

Omg. I can’t even finish your podcast about Lex. There’s no life in him. Looks like an arrogant funeral home director. Watch his interview with Ann Jacobson. He can’t even look at her. Any energy is provided ,if any, by his guest. You owe me 2$…

I read somewhere that he had one of the founders of google as his very early guests. Before he blew up. How did he manage that ?

Never read Freud but wouldn’t sublimation freed him from his repressed gayness and hence allow him to be joyful?

Dmitry Orlov on Nima Alkorshid’s podcast, pretty funny

I don't like to waste people's time with clickbait or tea.

And I'll admit my bias

But these guys have an excellent deconstruction of his Middle School. Joe Rogan interview style.

It works very well in the modern media platforms

First, we do not know whether Lex is in a relationship with someone. Second, even if he is not, a source of his sadness may be not his relationship status, but that he was in a field that he did not like for over 10 years, following footsteps of his father and brother, and did not develop his own interests. Third, a bigger question is why he appears to be a CIA asset.

Just commenting on this old story, because ... really because I saw a talk given by the Jewish Russian mathematician Edward Frenkel. Frenkel has some startlingly interesting philosophical ideas (if you're into philosophy of science and math, the relation between mind and body etc as I am), and Frenkel mentioned the (Soviet-born, Jewish) biologist Michael Levin, who has some quite remarkable ideas & experiments about that, and that Levin were on Lex Fridman recently.

So this morning I started listening to it ... on AntennaPod. My first thought was, after some time: *How many* sponsors does he have for this episode, and how long time is he going to ramble on about each of them before coming to the actual interview?

But, underway he mentioned Shopify and said that they have a "beautiful interface built in Ruby on Rails", and that RoR was created by "DHH" (David Heinemeier Hansson, a Danish entrepeneur, software developer and millionaire) and DHH is apparently "such a beautiful human being, I had him on recently, and he's such a ...", gushing.

Well, that "beautiful human being" wrote *this* back in his youth, in the early days of (checks notes) september 2025: https://world.hey.com/dhh/as-i-remember-london-e7d38e64

tl:dr_ a xenophobic rant complaining about multicultural London and supporting Tommy Robinson; and, for good measure, he throws in a statement in support of a comedian who made a "joke" on twitter inciting people to violence against trans people. Some judge of character, that Lex!

And the episode - the only Lex Fridman episode I've heard so far. Well, it's actually quite interesting. Mostly because it's Michael Levin talking like 90% of the time, and he has some really weird and interesting ideas of life and consciousness and similar things.

a nice journey in the world of the lex

For people curious about Levin's ideas, I'd now not recommend the Lex Fridman episodes but rather this symposion talk by himself: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2RcW65tBxRA

The literary precedent of tragic duck discovery would be the collapse of Sibyl Vane from natural actress to rejected lover by way of Prince Charming.
