Man, DeBlassio looks better and better by the day. Zohran at least represents change, and if he's at least DeBlassio, he'll be a big improvement from the current and potential future mayoral candidates.
The most infuriating thing about her (and many other rightwing grifters) to me is that if she really believes these things then why does she spend her entire life posting about politics online? Why not just go live the good life somewhere with all of her money? It’s not like we’re in danger of having a socialist revolution any time soon. Her pathological need for negative attention betrays her stated cynicism.
"The son of a Columbia professor!" Ok, you are a young'un so I'll give you a pass. And Mira Nair has made some very good films. But the "Columbia professor' is Mahmoud Mamdani and he is a very important left wing intellectual from Uganda who I have been reading since the 1970's. You need to familiarize yourself with him. It might give you a window into how his son became who he is.Just sayin...
Just watched “Mississippi Masala” again. It is a “small” film by Mira Nair starring a young Denzel Washington. Have you seen it? I mention it because it is a film about an Indian upper class family from Uganda that gets expelled from the country when Idi Amin comes to power and ends up running a mom and pop store and liquor store in a small city in Mississippi. The film moves back and forth from the family’s life in Mississippi and its past in Uganda. I thought of you because Mahmoud Mamdani provides the historical background for the film. You probably have already seen it, but if not, check it out. It’s good.
