SEE PISTACHIO WARS IN A THEATER
The day of judgment is upon California’s most notorious water baron family! Pistachio Wars — a film created by me and Rowan Wernham — will be released to stream worldwide on November 7th. You can pre-order it on Apple TV and get more details over at Watermelon Pictures…
In the meantime — if you’re lucky enough to be a detestable coastal elite — you should come out to one of the advance screenings we’re doing in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York on the first week of November. I’m touring with the film so each night will feature a Q&A. Will Menaker, Joshua Turek, and Dave Anthony have all been kind enough to agree to join me.
We’ll be discussing the film, the Resnicks, and a lot of other things, too. Because Pistachio Wars is more than just about California and the water oligarchy that’s destroying what’s left of life in the state. The film tells a bigger story — a story that stands at the intersection of many forces hitting us and the planet at the same time. It’s about the massive political and economic stranglehold that an unaccountable elite has over everything. It’s about environmental collapse and insatiable consumerist culture and the endless push for extraction. It’s about empire and wars and the belief that we can just wring from nature what we want with no downside and no consequences. I guess you could say that at its core Pistachio Wars about the polycrisis of industrial civilization. But it is also very much about love — a love between two ruthless and ambitious people…a love that’s endearing in its own twisted way.
Here’s the schedule. These are ONE NIGHT ONLY events. So get your tickets before they sell out!

Those clips of Lynda's philanthropy video are INSANE. The Gilliam-esque makeup, the direct look into the camera when she says, "YOU'RE GOING TO DIE," the Fiji water, the Marie Antoinette painting (which I now realize is, of course, owned by them). Utterly beyond satire. With apologies to Matt Christman, they're just dabbing on us 24/7.
Can't wait to watch!
So exciting, congratulations! Sorry to be typo guy, but pretty sure you mean "UNaccountable elite." Really looking forward to the film.
