Well…we chose an interesting time to visit. There’s a big rush for the borders right now and a lot of panic. Many are trying to flee mobilization, scared that the border will soon be closed for men of fighting age. And all this is happening right as we’re trying to leave ourselves. So trying to find a way out has been chaotic even for us.

But we’re leaving soon. If all goes according to plan we should be out in a few days.

We visited Lenin’s mausoleum the day after Russia’s mobilization law went into affect, before the weight of this thing really started to sink in. As Evgenia’s been saying, what’s going on with this war is a continuation of the collapse of the Soviet Union. So a visit to its one true God seemed important. He’s still here, and free to visit. No wait on rides if you have a kid under three.
