hope this works out.

For myself I started to treat my internet usage like I was back in the 90's as kid, using a shared pc on a dial up connection. Sitting in front of a computer screen was an intentional thing, done for a set time before going off and doing something else. Even that would be better than what we have now.

Of course, what would be better is doing away with capitalism altogether.........

Awesome project, Yasha. Btw, when I went to post this comment, THE INTERNET demanded I receive a 6 number code from SUBSTACK and then input it in order to exercise "free speech." We are indeed TRAPPED. And the US Postal Service is monitored, too. The NBC news piece is priceless, and preserved and brought to us by ...

Brilliant, can’t wait. I just finished Surveillance Valley and it was a banger from start to finish. There is a YouTuber “we’re in hell” who did a long vlog which sounded like the book note for note then he did another video where he acknowledges and gives big props to your book. Good areas for the algorithm.

One wonders if Sam Kriss could sustain his flow for more than an essay without getting lost up his own arse. That said, I also read his stuff as he is a scintillating writer pushing back on the algorithm and slop by testing the boundaries of linguistics and reality with some non-true passages that would send the LLM into a melt down. Anyway I didn’t drop in to defend or debate about old mate.

For me personally I am indeed internet sick, wracked with guilt and dissonance trapped in the algorithm of genocide, literally the worst possible images but what other tools do these people have but the platforms to beg for help? I resent Instagram, even delete it then like a good addict come crawling back for one more hit.

Gotta say though your pod with your Evgenia does seem to bring genuine joy!

Do you remember the YouTuber's name/channel? I'm jonesing for my screentime fix and would love to hear what another person thought of "Surveillance Valley" - I liked it too. Read it twice.

This is great so far. Looking forward to more of this project. I don't think you've ever brought up the documentary Collapse from 2009, but it was one of the documentaries that seemed to cut to an unspoken truth of the current age. It seems to fit in with the idea of our oncoming age of techno-feudalism that different types of collapse are happening all at once. Anyway was curious what you thought about it. The internet is a tainted cheese. I just can't stop eating it...
