"I'm recording this transmission from the bathroom"
A glimpse into Episode Zero of Vampire Valley.
Pistachio Wars is officially slated for release on November 7, 2025 — you can pre-order today…right now! To celebrate our global release we’re gonna do a series of screenings on the first week of November — in SF, LA, and NYC. I’ll be sending out more info on that in a few days so stand by.
With us so close to releasing this film, I’ve been inspired to work my new doc project about the internet…about the internet and pacification, a documentary that’s also a kind of anti-documentary…something that fights the pacifying Spectacle from within the Spectacle itself. Is this even possible? Maybe. The least I can do is to help people captured by the Spectacle to see that they’ve been captured. The Spectacle is a kind of structural society wide addiction and being honest with yourself and admitting that the addiction is there is the first step to rejecting its parasitic clutches.
So I’ve been working on the introductory episode to the series, trying to come up with the right approach and the right kind of aesthetic…something that captures the times we live in…a time everything is mediated through technology…where we’re bombarded with visual and audio stimulation…where is mashed up…the high and the low…the tragic and the comic…a world in which a genocide can be live-streamed next to comedy reels and ads for Netflix and memes and texts with your parents. All information. All the time. High and low quality. Rage and hate and frivolity. From every surface. Nonstop. I think I’m getting close to getting it right with this introductory bit. You can see it below…
Once the episode is done, I’ll post it free for everyone to watch. But it’ll take some time and so until then I’ll be sharing finished bits of the episode with paid subscribers as I go along.
If you can afford to become a paid subscriber please do. Making documentaries takes a lot of time and effort — infinitely more time than writing essays on the internet. Basically, I need money to do it and I have no big luddite donors lining up to finance this thing, at least not yet. Seriously…subscribe if you can.
