Nono, thank you. It's very important what you're doing, putting into words the sham we've always been led to ignore, yet at all levels should've sensed. Yay for your baby, hope you two are as okay as possible in this heartless mess.

Hard time to be bringing a new child into the world... sorry for your problems, it's the kind of thing that make people 'go postal' (or would if we still have a postal system... Geezus!!). Doesn't your landlord need some kind of reason beyond 'mo money' to pull a Simon Legree? Anyway, best of luck, good fortune & congrats on the new addition.

Hi Yasha and Evgenia

Some positive news for your weekend reading...see if you can stay in California for a bit longer...it looks like it's a state that has turned the corner in virus terms, from what I can see:

I wish we had that kind of data available in my country...it gets published with a six month lag!!

Jason, thanks for the Cody Johnston video.

The reddit excerpt: https://imgbox.com/s2D1HXLB is chilling.

This footage (apart from whatever one's views are on Jimmy Dore, etc) around the 5m30min mark from Houston is crushing: https://youtu.be/X0IPkFb9610?t=337

Yasha, does *anyone in power* up there in the US have any clues on how this all resolves?

Nah. No one gives a fuck about anyone here. It’s bleak. Vote Biden! Vote Blue!

Even down in "middle-earth" things are grim...this** came out last week.

Nothing remotely as bad as what the USA experiences, but still...many are scrambling for cognitive dissonance pills down here in NZ at the moment, as we have national elections in six weeks time.

** "...Among those in the poorest half of the country, meanwhile, the average person owns assets worth just $46,000 and has debts of $33,000, leaving them with a net worth of $12,000. They have negligible wealth in trusts and on average just $4,000 in the bank, leaving them vulnerable to sudden financial shocks..."

"...Overall, the wealthiest 10% have 59% of all the country’s assets, and the middle classes around 39%. That leaves the poorest half of the country with just 2%...."

Friedman and Hayek have a lot to answer for.
